Frame FeaturesConnection Clips - Specially fabricated clips are designed to securely connect structural components. Many companies supply only blank plates that must be cut, drilled and/or welded to components before assembly can begin. In some cases it may require many hours of work to connect required clips. Metal Building Depot details and supplies each clip and placement to every building manufactured. We factory weld all clips onto rigid frames and guarantee the correct placement of all component connections. Don't waste your time and money attaching clips that should have been factory located. Structural Bracing - Most buildings under 60' have sufficient diaphragm action or "panel shear" that provides all the bracing needed to stabilize the building. In some cases of high winds, seismic or snow loads may cause more stress than panel shear can handle, so additional reinforcement may be required. In these extreme cases we will employ the use of X bracing to reinforce the frame. In situations where X bracing cannot be used a wind column is an excellent addition to strengthen a vertical rigid frame column. A portal frame is sometimes used in extreme load circumstances. Portal frames are fairly expensive and only necessary in rare circumstances. Steel BuildingsWhy should I build with steel instead of wood? - The number one reason is strength. Steel buildings can withstand high load conditions. Steel buildings are fastened together with high-strength bolts and screws. The connections remain secure because there is little to no movement in the structural members and panels. However, wood connections in conventional construction become loose due to expansion and contraction and the result is warping of the wooden frame. Steel does not warp, shrink, or change with time so the connections remain secure. Wooden buildings can suffer damage do to insects such as termites, and this deterioration will reduce the quality of wooden buildings. Furthermore, metal building material is not a flammable substance so your insurance costs will be reduced. How does the price of a steel building compare with others? - Conventional construction materials are affected by demand and availability; conversely, steel has remained relatively constant for many years. When it comes to pre-fabricated steel buildings it would be difficult to find a like structure to compare with the low cost of a steel building. Is everything I need to construct my building included? - Everything you need to construct your new metal building will be included with the exception of the anchor bolts, which should be supplied by your foundation contractor. What is Bay Spacing? - It is the space between 2 frames. For example, the end wall of the building is the End-Frame, and the distance between the End-Frame and the next column/rafter section is the Bay Space, or the distance between two column/rafter sections. How do I assemble my steel building? - Steel building assembly couldn't be easier. We provide you with the necessary information to erect your steel building quickly and efficiently. Many of our clients erect their steel buildings on their own, although a professional contractor can also used at an affordable price. Are the steel buildings painted? - Yes, the walls and trim are painted with a long-lasting factory-applied paint manufactured by a leading manufacturer of heavy duty, high performance protective coatings for steel building components. There is a wide selection of colors for you to choose from. You can select the wall panel, trim, and roof colors on the color chart section of our website. FoundationsDo I need a foundation for my metal building? - Some people choose to pour a full slab foundation, however if you're planning on leaving the floor in a dirt or gravel condition, concrete piers will do the job just fine. Please contact a customer service representative if you don't plan to pour a full slab foundation. Can you provide an engineer stamped foundation layout? - Yes, but in some cases your soil conditions play a major role in the type of foundation you can use. Contact our special sales department for more information. If using a local engineer, we will provide anchor bolt plans to aid your engineer in designing the foundation. Do you supply the hardware to attach the frame to foundation? - No, the anchor bolts are usually supplied by a concrete contractor and placed when the foundation is poured. ABOUT USCOMMITMENT - Our Company's vision is "to maintain a leading-edge in the design, engineering, fabrication and delivery of the highest quality steel buildings in the industry." We are deeply committed to providing you with this service as a means of achieving our vision. VALUE - Low initial cost does not always provide the best value. It is just a small part of the picture. The values inherent in our designs assist in the ease of construction of the project but more importantly we provide a well-documented system that is easy to maintain. Much of the value we bring lies in the details. There is a true ART to engineering and design that provides added value to the Owner. EXPERIENCE - With over 8 years in the manufacturing business and key staff members with many more years in engineering, we have the requisite experience. Major hardware and accessory suppliers have reviewed our capabilities and recognize us as leaders in our field. Many of our projects involve very difficult project constraints. Dealing with these issues and tight project schedules is the trademark of our success. PROJECT METHODOLOGY - The success of a project lies in the talent of the design team and in the execution of the project. We first provide a strong project team, backed up with a well-defined and proven project execution methodology. Our project methodology has evolved over the years as we have executed numerous projects. It begins with our proposal document and extends through project documents, design sequence, system testing, acceptance documents and to the final delivery of our building system. The key to our methodology is communication. We strongly believe in defining what we are providing and expanding this initial definition as the project continues. QUALITY - In engineering, quality relates to the designs we produce and the timing in project execution. Our goal for design is to provide a superior level of detail in documentation. We strive for uniformity of design, providing details often left out by others and keeping systems simple. The key to being on time is project execution. First, a well-defined project methodology is needed to set the planning framework. Second, understanding of the Owner's needs is paramount. Finally, our years of experience in the execution of critical projects have given us an essential edge over our competitors. Key members of our staff have up to thirty-five years of experience in project engineering and execution. Wall InstallationLabels on wall insulation rolls indicate the length as well as the number of pieces that need to be cut from each roll. We recommend that all rolls be cut from a clean location to avoid staining the insulation facing. 1) Cut the dimensions of the insulation from the base angle to eave strut or rake plus 6"-12" extra. 2) Attach one end of the insulation to the base angle using double-faced tape. 3) Pull from the other end to stretch the insulation tightly outside the girts to the eave or rake, and attach with double-faced tape. 4) Make sure the facing is toward the interior of the building and attach the panel to the structure. 5) Install the next roll in the same manner, with edges butted snugly. Then fasten the tabs using one of the methods described. Thank you for visiting Metal Building for Cleveland, Wisconsin.
